Hobby Electronics / Robotics
I design and build industrial automated machinery
from the mechanicals to the digital control electronics, and even the software applications to automate machinery for a living.
A lot of times when I am designing prototype circuits
or trying out something new, I would stumble upon some gadget, sensors, and or IC's that would be suitable for hobby robotics or electronic applications.....
That is where some of these projects come in to play.... and some were done, just because.
Electronics and Robotics are my biggest hobbies, I love to tinker with just about anything electronic or mechanical just to figure out how it works, or see how it mas made. But like most, I do not have a budget for my tinkering, so a lot of times I would build most of my sensors and robotic parts from salvaged electronics or from samples that I get from companies such as MAXIM-IC
, and ALLEGRO Micro
, and various other manufacturers that are always willing to send you a couple of samples of their products. Most of my mechanical parts such as gears, motors and such, I usually salvage those out of broken down motorized toys or household appliances. You would not believe how much you can save and how much stuff you could acquire for nothing, and the stuff you could build out of something else.
Talk about budget robotics! Try recycled robotics (Re-Bots = Robots composed of recycled parts...)!
Most of my MCu based projects are either based on the OOPIC Brand MCu by Savage Innovations....
all my circuits are compatible with other MCu's available in the market today...
